Thermostatic steam traps for removing condensate from steam or for venting steam pipes. In steam traps with GESTRA Thermovit regulators, the opening and closing process is controlled by the interaction of bimetallic plates and a stage nozzle. When the plant is started up, the trap is fully open. Cold condensate and air are discharged. With rising temperature, the Duo (bimetallic) stainless steel plates bend and pull the stage nozzle into the closing position. The orifice is then closed immediately below the saturation temperature.
Thermodynamic processes taking place in the stage-nozzle chamber support the closing procedure. The trap provides automatic air-venting at start-up and during operation. It is precisely this principle that makes steam traps from the BK series highly responsive, very efficient and extremely resistant. These steam traps are insensitive to frost and water hammer, resistant to corrosion and require little maintenance. The RHOMBUSline® BK 45 steam trap is used for low capacity applications such as drip and tracing, and economically combines steam trap, check valve and Y-Strainer (with optional blow off valve) in a small profile with a convenient 2-bolt cover for easy maintenance. Robust steam traps for condensate removal from heating processes with small load fluctuations.
